The Rich are Getting Richer and The Poor are Getting Poorer... Except that's not the case anymore
There is a narrative out there that the rich are always getting more at the poor's expense. And for thousands of years that has been very true- from Roman Senators to Russian Czars to Dictators to Popes to Kings etc. But now we move into the last 100 years in America, specifically. And despite 2 World Wars, tons of other worldwide epidemics, floods, wars, earthquakes and everything bad that has happened, we're still here.. And we are richer and more advanced in every way.
We have the wealthiest country in the world. We have the best medical technology ever. We send cars to space.
So why does this matter? Why should we care that we have the richest country on earth? Because some people want you to fail.
They want you to think that when your idea doesn't work out, it's because of someone else. They want you to think that because you've but your blood, sweat, and tears into this business and it doesn't work out, the system is the problem and not you. They want you to think things are beyond your control.
Why?
If you don't succeed, that means nothing changes for the better. If small businesses don't take on big businesses, nothing get innovated. Nothing moves forward. Nothing changes. If you don't invent the cell phone, the computer, the car, the MRI, or the rocket... No one else will.
But if you put an idea into action- if you reinvent an industry or just come up with a better pen- you change everything. You can make peoples lives better, more convenient, happier, or safer by what you do. You can be Jobs, Gates, Buffet, Wright, Edison, Tesla, Ford- by being you. You create jobs, you move ecconomies forward, you change the world.
You're probably wondering why I chose to write about this topic this week. It's because with all the negativity in this world, nothing should hold you back from your dreams. People want you to think that you can't succeed... but you can. And you will. It might take 1000 failed light bulbs but you will do it if you want it.
So next time you want to blame investors, partners, the stock market, the government, your family, or luck- don't.
